polymer clay cactus earrings
Learn how to craft beautiful polymer clay earrings the easy way! This new, revolutionary product has the designs already in the clay! Simply cut, bake and assemble!
Step 1 |
Ensure your work area is clean, dry and free of dust. |
Step 2 |
Roll out the clay to the desired thickness using a roller. Alternate between rolling horizontally and vertically. |
Step 3 |
Lightly dust the clay with corn starch to prevent the texture sheet from sticking. |
Step 4 |
Lay the texture sheet face down on top of the clay, then roll on top applying pressure. |
Step 5 |
Remove the texture sheet to reveal the design imprinted on the clay. |
Step 6 |
Place the cutter on the clay and press down to cut out shapes. |
Step 7 |
Poke a hole on the top of each shape using a clay awl tool. |
Step 8 |
Preheat the oven to 250°F [120°C] and allow the oven to come to temperature. Place the clay pieces carefully on an oven-safe baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then put them into the oven for 15-20 minutes. |
Step 9 |
Once baked, remove the clay slab pieces from the oven and allow them to cool completely before handling. |
Step 10 |
To create a bead connector, slide a bead through the eye pin, then bend the eye pin and cut it, leaving a ¼" [0.635 cm] tail. Use round pliers to make a simple loop at the end of the eye pin. |
Step 11 |
Attach the clay shape and bead connector to an earring wire using a 7mm jump ring. Open and close the jump ring using flat pliers to secure the components in place. |
