Use matboard from cuttable surfaces to make an inspirational journal for yourself or give as a gift!

Print Project

Step 1

First, click here for the design in Cricut® Design Space™.
TIP: If you want to make any changes to the design, click ‘Customise’ at the bottom of the screen and it will move the design into your canvas; then use the edit tools in the tool bar. Hide (or delete) the translated version you do not want to cut.

Step 2

Now, click ‘Make It’ in the upper right corner of your screen and ‘Continue’ in the lower right corner of the next screen.

Step 3

Place your one of your matboards onto your cutting mat; then choose your material and follow the prompts on your screen to deboss.
TIP: Add masking tape around the edges of its perimeter if you feel you need a little stronger hold.

Step 4

Do not unload your mat! Use the included tape to attach foil over the area for the design.
TIP: See instructions included with the foil on how and additional tips for using this material. When your machine is done drawing with the foil it will partially unload your mat. Do not completely unload! It does this so you can remove the foil, then push the blinking arrow on your machine to cut.

Step 5

Unload and gently remove the material from the cutting mat. Discard excess matboard. Set aside.
TIP: If desired, deboss the second matboard so the back of your journal matches the front!

Step 6

Cut paper to size for your journal.
TIP: Instead of cutting paper, find an inexpensive journal, such as one found in the Make Market impulse baskets that line the register line, and remove the stitch binding.

Step 7

Gather paper and use your binding tool to punch holes along one edge.

Step 8

Punch holes along one side of your matboard pieces as well.

Step 9

Place your debossed, foiled matboard over the cut paper and place and untreated matboard on the back. Align all holes and use the binding tool to add wires.

Step 10

Trim excess wire and use pliers to bend in the cut wire.
